Partner billing setup for client accounts — how to ensure clean detachment later?

We’re a service provider evaluating DigitalOcean’s Organizations/partner billing model for managing multiple client accounts.

Our goal: create a separate DigitalOcean account for each client, where we (the reseller) initially attach our payment method to cover billing, but the client remains the actual owner of their account/Organization.

Two questions:

1. Is there a supported way to attach our payment method to a client’s own separate account/Organization (so we pay on their behalf) without merging their account as a Team into our Organization? We understand that once a Team is added to an Organization, it’s permanent and cannot be removed or moved out — we want to avoid that path entirely.
2. If a client later wants to become fully independent (manage their own billing, payment method, and account), can they simply swap in their own payment method and detach from our billing arrangement — with zero migration, rebuild, or downtime for their existing resources (Droplets, databases, etc.)? Or does “detaching” from a partner billing arrangement carry the same irreversibility as removing a Team from an Organization?

We want to make sure clients can leave cleanly without needing to migrate or rebuild their infrastructure. Any guidance from DO staff or others who’ve set up similar reseller/partner billing arrangements would be really helpful.
