Scale up as you grow — whether you're running one virtual machine or ten thousand.

From GPU-powered inference and Kubernetes to managed databases and storage, get everything you need to build, scale, and deploy intelligent applications.

I have an app on a Droplet that uses a DigitalOcean Managed PostgreSQL cluster. One page has become slow as the data grew. The main query filters an orders table with about 2 million rows by customer_id and sorts by created_at. It now takes around 3 seconds.
Someone told me to run EXPLAIN and add an index, but the output looks like a wall of text to me. How do I read it? And is it safe to add an index on a live production database, or will it lock my table?
